There are many similarities between Poverty and Prostitution.

• Both are 'issues'; while the former 'affects' a large population which is more than half of some of the entire populations of certain countries, the latter 'affects' a small section.
• Both has its origins from exploitation- while the poor are exploited by the rich,greedy and selfish, the 'prostitutes' are 'exploited' by the sex-thirsty.
• So, both situations are 'unhealthy' for those who are into them. They need to come out of these situations to lead a happy and respectable life. 
• Thus, there is no point in promoting a Union for the Poor or a Union for the Prostitutes. It is unfair to ask them to retain their tags as poor or a prostitute and encourage them to remain where they are; it is unfair to think that poverty is a right or prostitution is a right. Both should  not be encouraged. 
• Respect should be given to all - the poor and the sexually exploited woman, as they are also human beings. But, the status there are in does not need respect. 
• In short, let us not start organizing the 'exploited' to demand more rights for them to remain exploited; instead, they should shed their label and come out. NGOs should not 'exploit' the already 'exploited'.
